Leave Hiroshima Station, run through Kamiyacho and past the Atomic Bomb Dome and the EDION Peace Wing, then loop back via Hakushima. The start runs across a deck through the station's second floor.

A one-way sprint from Fukuyama Station past Fukuyama Castle and Kusado Inari Shrine, over the Ashidagawa Ohashi cable-stayed bridge and down the Seto Inland Sea coast to the finish at Tomonoura's stone lantern.

Start at Kure Station, pass the submarine Akishio and the Yamato Museum, run along Kuramoto-dori and Hondori, past the shipyards and the destroyers and submarines moored at Alley Karasukojima, then climb the double spiral onto the vermilion Ondo Bridge.

From Matsue Station past the Prefectural Office, around Matsue Castle and Shiomi-nawate, across Lake Shinji Bridge to the sunset spot on the lakeshore, with Yomegashima floating offshore.

About City Kart

Browser kart racing through real cities

City Kart is a free kart racing game built from the 3D city models published by Project PLATEAU, the open data programme of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Buildings, roads and terrain all come from that data. There are four cities — Hiroshima, Fukuyama, Kure and Matsue — and each one runs in the browser with nothing to install and nothing to pay.

The courses follow real streets

The racing line runs on PLATEAU's road surfaces, and the width of the track changes section by section to match the real road. Buildings along the course wear PLATEAU's photo textures, taken from aerial imagery, so landmarks such as the Atomic Bomb Dome, Fukuyama Castle, Matsue Castle and the stone lantern at Tomonoura stand exactly where they do in the city.

Alone, or with up to eight

Single Play races against AI karts. Online Play puts up to eight people on the same course: once two players are in the lobby a 30-second countdown starts, and any empty slots on the grid are filled by AI. On phones and tablets a stick and buttons appear on screen.

Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser. Any recent browser with WebGL2 — Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox — will do.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On phones and tablets a stick and buttons appear on screen, and the graphics quality adjusts to the device.
How many people can play?

Which cities can I race in?
Hiroshima (a 7.31 km lap, raced twice), Fukuyama (20.7 km point to point, finishing at Tomonoura), Kure (12.8 km point to point, finishing across the Ondo Bridge) and Matsue (a 9.6 km lap, raced twice).
How are the cities made?
From the 3D city models (CityGML) published by Japan's Project PLATEAU. Buildings, roads and terrain come from that data, buildings along the course wear PLATEAU's aerial photo textures, and the racing line follows real streets.
